I think those who say that you can’t tango if you are not Argentine are mistaken. Tango was an
immigrant music... so it does not have a nationality. Its only passport is feeling.

Tango Stories of Wellington is dedicated to the people of the Wellington tango community, past and present.
Our aim is to record the history of tango in Wellington, New Zealand, through visual images, and the personal stories and reminiscences of community members. The Tango Stories of Wellington website is run by Jill Lloyd, but is largely a collective effort, with contributors such as Kevin Jones, who has done a lot of research on the history of Wellington tango, and Cheryl Brown, who has been recording interviews with tango dancers. Jill Lloyd is coordinating the site, and writing a blog. In accordance with the late Graeme Dallow's wishes, Jill will write a book based on what is brought together, which will be available in digital form sometime in the future.
We welcome comments and contributions from current and former Wellington tango dancers, and also from our friends from other cities and countries who have visited here to teach, to study or to dance with us.
